Message from District Rotaract Chair

Dear Rotaractors,

Prior to undertake the duty of District Rotaract Committee Chair 2011-12, I was enquired on “DRC’s Year Goal”? It got me puzzled; shall I need to prepare a somewhat magnificent Year Goal with a sound slogan? As a humble Rotarian with passion to serve the new generations without any ambitious illusion, this is not my cup of tea.

I am always proud of our Rotaractors whether working or studying both willing to  give up their leisure time slot, devote to delicate their precious time to service the societies and in the meantime develop their own connotation. By attending tens of  the meeting with the District Rotaract leaders such as DRR, DDRRs, REOs, Program PICs, I am inspired by their sincere attitude, creative thinking, and most importantly their enthusiasm and passion.

Our big day—District Rotaract Installation was scheduled on the first month of our year term. The entire team has worked days and nights in order to present the most brilliant opening. God rewarded those who devoted; the outcome of the District Installation was a remarkable success! And I was moved very much among those cheerful faces but tired, toils and sweat bodies!

I awaked and realized what our need was simply a peaceful environment where they could easily access guidance & resources. In other words, the first priority for DRC was to provide a harmonic atmosphere to facilitate the Rotaractors to embrace the Rotaract Motto: Fellowship through Service! At the completion of their year term, they will achieve their year goal joyfully!

Inevitably, Rotaractors will make mistakes during the year term. Then I would apply my secret Weapon T, (T- stand for Tolerate). Tolerate without blame doesn’t mean indulge; it positively represents encouragement and forgiveness. My past experiences have proved me right that patient guidance is the most effective element to guide them back to the right track.

Another magical “super weapon” is called Weapon-A, A stands for “Appreciation” which is the twins to “recognition”. Nonetheless it doesn’t mean arrogance, with no doubt that they should be recognized whenever they perform well.

I always remember what Nelson Mandela once said: “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.” My goal is to learn as many languages among the Rotaractors since I want my words go to their hearts.

Last but not least, I urge you all to blend your daily life with the spirit of the Rotaract   “To Serve, To Learn, To Lead”! And I believe that this year of your Rotaract will be your harvest and memorable bloom time!

Yours in Rotary,
Vincent Ng
